Grammy Thoughts (A Half-Hearted Attempt At Actual Blogging...)
A few random thoughts from three and a half hours of background TV:
- I missed the Gorillaz to start the show - anyone record the first ten minutes with FeelGood, Inc.?
- What's up with the Coldplay singer's hair? And just how bad are they now?
- Apparently, not nearly as bad as Kanye West and Jamie Foxx...
- Anyone else strangely amused to see Kelly Clarkson beat Mariah Carey (twice!)?
- U2 rocked (of course) - even with Mary J. Blige accompanying them in their second song.
- A rock sweep of the three big categories - righting the injustice inflicted upon the public last year in the name of John Meyer and Norah Jones...
- Who does the Grammy president think he is? Why do you cut off U2's acceptance speech after they win the Grammy's (supposedly) biggest award with an overly long (I swear it was 5 minutes) introduction to the Katrina finale number? (Anyone actually make it through his speech and hear the finale? Was it worth it?)
- All in all, a pretty bland show (which, in retrospect, is just what I expected), but it was good to hear U2 perform (because I'm never going to be able to get tickets to one of their live shows) and see Mariah lose (just because...).
